A bumbling, yet loyal sidekick (brilliantly played by Bill Pullman) sees his boss and best friend (Peter Fonda) gunned down in cold blood. Lefty is compelled by friendship and honor to seek revenge. The cinematography is gorgeous, think Rocky Mountain High, and the mood of the film remains true to its genre: pensive, a bit wild, and tense. A classic underdog flick.

You do not have to be a blue water sailor or sailboat owner to enjoy this movie about the true story of a failed attempt to sail across the Pacific Ocean in a luxury sailboat. The film has high visual impact, as well as, an outstanding performance by Shailene Woodley; yet was a box office flop. I saw this film on the big screen in Denver, and you could count the number of people in the stadium seats on one hand. On the other hand, Denver is not known for having hordes of sailors. It's a beautiful sea movie with a very simple plot, don't expect anything astounding or particularly original, yet it captures the intense feeling and extreme danger of being alone on the high seas in a wounded sail boat with low chance of rescue.
This is a cool looking, atmospheric action/sci-fi flick that is a sequel the classic 1982 Blade Runner movie. The basic plot is the same as the original; Special cops, nicknamed Blade Runners, are still killing replicants that go off the reservation. A few random thoughts - there was endless fanboy jibber-jabber about Dekkard being a replicant in the original 1982 film – this question is settled once and for all in the sequel. Poor Ryan Gosling cannot act his way out of a paper bag, or was he just trying hard to be “in character”, i.e. robotic. In that case, he succeeded. Rarely are the reviews so sharply divided – either a 1 or a 10, with few in between. Finally as in the original, I love the flying cars. Where can I buy one?
Can you spell "slubberdegullion"? Guy Trilby can. He’s a spelling bee champ, but never mind that he is forty years old competing against twelve year olds. Doesn’t matter. This bizarre storyline allowed for a lot of amusing scenes and weird characters. This funny movie is more than just a rude and raunchy comedy; it has some heartwarming moments, and good chemistry between Kathryn Hahn (We’re the Millers) and Guy Trilby (Jason Bateman). A predictable ending, but that doesn't take away too much from a fun movie.
